How long have you been with Goji? What is your role on your team?

I joined Goji in the summer of 2017 as an Operations Executive and have moved across a number of positions since then. I’ve recently returned from maternity leave and started a new role as a Transfer Agent Engagement Executive. In my new position, I help to manage our network of fund administrators and their engagement with our private funds platform.

What initially interested you about Goji? What do you enjoy about working here?

Fintech felt new and innovative and Goji encapsulated that mentality. I was also excited at the opportunity to join a company at its humble beginnings and contribute from the ground up.

I really appreciate the autonomy and trust given to everyone who joins Goji. While there’s a huge amount of freedom to own your work, take the lead and use your initiative, the team always makes time for you when you have questions or need guidance.

Where did you work prior to joining Goji? How has this shaped your role here?

Before Goji, I worked in a variety of hospitality roles as soon as I was able to. In fact, immediately after graduating and prior to joining Goji, I was working in a seafood restaurant whilst applying for jobs in the city. I couldn’t wait to leave the clam chowder and mandatory bow tie behind me!

Aside from strong time management and organisation, I feel indebted to the hospitality industry for a number of invaluable soft skills: notably communication and collaboration, thinking on my feet, staying calm in fast-paced environments and cultivating empathy for the end customer.

Give us the inside scoop – what are some of the unique aspects of working at Goji?

Certainly the day-to-day agility and energy of the company as a whole, although the small stuffed animals that can occasionally appear on your desk, such as the “Congrats Rat” or “Fail Whale” also feel very unique!

What was your dream job as a child? Tell us a bit about your journey to where you are today.

I dreamed of becoming an engineer. I was always fascinated by how things worked and loved taking things apart to see how they functioned. I later developed an interest in philosophy and “why things are the way they are,” which naturally led me to study politics. The interdependence of politics and the economy meant I was keen to understand more about the world of finance, which led me to a small Fintech start-up called Goji.

What would you do if you had unlimited free time?

So many things! I’d definitely spend time with my family, but I’d also love to paint and play guitar more. I’ve recently delved into the world of sewing and clothes making, so it’d be great to spend time on that too. I love learning anything new, so unlimited free time would be great!

Any fun projects on the horizon? What are you and your team up to next?

The development of the new Fundsettle platform with Euroclear is a really exciting project that we are following closely. Currently we are focusing on developing and maintaining a deep working knowledge of the market and building strong client relationships, working to ensure our product truly caters to the technological need of the industry. We are also building out our Transfer Agent Engagement team over the next few months.
